Colourist
Studio Lumen Inc is looking for a Colourist (or several colourists) to join our roster of subcontractors! This is a contract position, starting as soon as possible.
Who are we? Studio Lumen is a small but growing commercial and life photo and video company based in Calgary. We do a lot of short commercial documentary-style videos, and are involved in a number of other social projects.
As a colourist at our company, you will be responsible for doing final colour grading on final edits of our short films, ranging in length from 30 seconds to 20 minutes or more. We would expect you to have a solid understanding of and experience in colour grading. You would be working regularly with 2 or 3 other employees of Studio Lumen.
As businesses realize the power of authentic and natural video in telling their story to connect with their target market, we are well-placed to serve those companies, and need to hire quickly to maintain our capacity. We also do a lot of pure documentary story-telling for not-for-profits and charities.
We are looking to work with someone local, however this could be a remote job. We are well set up to work with remote contractors.

Job Description
General

Necessary Attributes
- 1 or more years of experience as a colourist
- Proven track record of completing projects within the allocated time-budget
- Proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Davinci, or other colour grading software that plays well with Adobe Premiere
- A strong portfolio to share
- If working remotely, a strong internet connection and a powerful computer
Desirable attributes
- Knowledge and experience with advanced motion graphics
- Familiarity with special effects, 3D and compositing
- The ability to commute to our office
Potential growth:
- Part-time or full-time editor and/or colourist
- Shooting if desired
- Photo post-production.
Remuneration Range
As a contractual job you will have a maximum time budget per project. As a contractor your hourly rate would be between $20 and $30, depending on experience. Weekly work could be between 1h and 20h. We are looking for several colourists to have on call in case one is unavailable.
