You know, or have been told, that you need a headshot. But what is the point?  We have talked to a lot of people about what a good headshot does for them, and ultimately it comes to this:

A good headshot builds trust.

So that they can generate more leads and sales.

But what do we mean by that?

When people visit a business’ website, what is one of the first things many do?

Go to the about page and see who are the people behind the brand.

What do you think of that business, when:

  • There are no pictures of the people?
  • They look unfriendly, are badly lit, or generally sloppy?
  • Everyone’s headshot looks like they were shot on cellphones?
  • They look nothing like their photo anymore?

If you are like most people, the answer to those questions could be

  • The business is not serious
  • They don’t want you to know or be able to contact the people in charge
  • They may be trying to hide something.

Even a very out-of-date headshot can break that first bit of trust when you meet the person and they don’t look at all like their headshot…if they don’t want to show you their current face, what else could they be hiding?
